 Upcoming Event:  Dinner with League: Thursday, November 2, 2023, National, State and Local Efforts to Reduce Gun Violence

National, State and Local Efforts to Reduce Gun Violence;

 by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America

Presenters:  Carl Reed, founder, and chair of the Manhattan Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Heather and Ron Thomas, members of Manhattan Moms Demand Action and Manhattan League of Women Voters.

As we have sadly been reminded this week, the US is now an outlier in the community of advanced nations in gun ownership and gun deaths. We have more school shootings in a month than most advanced countries have in a decade. Volunteers from the local Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will describe the efforts of the national, state, and local Moms Demand Action groups to reduce gun violence. You will learn about this organization's history and the motivation to form groups across the country, in our state, and locally. The priorities for changing laws and recent legislation in Kansas and information about the “Be Smart” safety program will be presented, as well as time for your questions.
